Who We Are
The Alano Club of Portland has been a leading source of Twelve-Step recovery support in Portland for 60 years and counting. Each month more than 10,000 vivistors find hope, healing, and solutions in our rooms. All of the Club's meetings, workshops and social events are firmly rooted in the Twelve-Step recovery model, which has brought long-term sobriety and a return to civic and personal responsobility to millions of recovering people worldwide. In fact, it is now estimated that more than 95% of all in-patient treatment programs incorporate the Twelve-Step model into their treatment curriculm.
The Alano Club of Portland is the largest recovery support center in Oregon and the largest center of its kind in the nation. On average, the Club hosts more than 100 support meetings each week across 15 distinct Twelve-Step programs. And because addictions and alcoholism rarely take a day off, the Club remains open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with its first daily meeting begining at 6:30 AM and its last daily meeting concluding at midnight. On Thanksgiving and Christmas the Club provides a catered holiday dinner for its extended recovery community and round-the-clock meetings for those in need. The Club also hosts recovery workshps and social events regularly throughout the year.
While the Alano Club of Portland was originally chartered in 1947 to support members of Alcoholics Anonymous and their families, today the Club’s reach and scope has widened significantly to include the following Twelve-Step programs: Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, Narcotics Anonymous, Sex Addicts Anonymous, Sex and Love Addicts, Co-Survivors of Sexual Addiction Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, Food Addicts Anonymous, Debtors Anonymous, Survivors of Incest Anonymous, Marijuana Anonymous, Co-Dependents Anonymous, Workaholics Anonymous, Clutters Anonymous and Recovering Couples Anonymous. Within these programs the Club also offers gender specific meetings, meetings for youth and meetings for the GLBT community.
