The Alano Corps - Service in Action

The Alano Corps is a caring community of skilled tradespeople who have made a generous commitment to preserve and protect the Club's landmark recovery center.  Annually Corps members pledge to provide a minimum of one day of volunteer service in their respective trades. Here's how the program works.

When the Club has a capital maintenance project a Corps member with the relevant skill set is called into service. For example, we recently needed to have some electrical repairs completed and exterior light fixtures installed.  In the past we would have consulted Angie's List, hired a contractor, and spent down our capital maintenance budget.  But with the Alano Corps in place we contacted an electrician Corps members and the job was completeled  on a pro bono basis.

The generosity of Corps members allows the Club to invest in its facility in ways not possible without their support. We are grateful for all they do to keep the Club's historic center safe, accessible and inviting.

We are currently recruiting Alano Corps volunteers  with the following skill sets:

Painting

Drywall repair

Electrical

Plumbing

Roofing

Finish carpentry

Please contact the Club's Executive Director, Brent Canode, at brent@portlandalano.org to sign up or to learn more about this opportunity to be of service to the Alano Club of Portland.
