Stock and mutual fund shares are a great way to support the Club AND receive the highest level of charitable tax deduction possible.
Because the Alano Club of Portland is a registered, charitable organization, your stock gift, including any capital gains you've earned, is fully tax deductible.
Our Stock Donation Program is fully equipped to handle broker to broker transactions, as well as direct stock gifts from stock certificate holders. If you are the holder of the stock certificate, we will need a letter of authority that includes:
1. A clear statement authorizing our broker to sell the stock;
2. A simple written directive assigning all stock proceeds from the sale to the Alano Club of Portland as a charitable contribution.
If you use the services of a broker, please have your broker contact our broker, Steve Brown, and he will be happy to facilitate the transaction.
