The Alano Club of Portland is an Oregon non-profit corporation. Our primary purpose is to operate a vital support center where 12-step recovery programs can hold meetings, host social events and provide community-building opportunities for alcoholics and addicts. We are driven by the belief that everyone deserves a chance at a life free from the imprisonment of active alcoholism and addiction.
The Alano Club of Portland was originally chartered in 1947 to support members of Alcoholics Anonymous and their families. Today, the Club’s reach and scope has greatly expanded to serve a far wider spectrum of people and recovery programs, including: Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, Narcotics Anonymous, Sex Addicts Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, Food Addicts Anonymous, Debtors Anonymous, Survivors of Incest Anonymous, Marijuana Anonymous, Co-Dependents Anonymous, Workaholics Anonymous and Recovering Couples Anonymous. Within the framework of these programs, we also host meetings tailored to specific populations, such as women-only, men-only, youth and sexual diversity meetings.
We believe that this dynamic mix of 12-step meetings provide s valuable synergy amongst recovery programs, bridging differences and bringing people together. At the Alano Club of Portland, healing communities grow and flourish out of the seeds of previously disconnected personal calamities.
The Alano Club of Portland is the largest recovery support center in Oregon. We are home to over 100 meetings per week, welcome more than 12,000 visitors through our doors each month, and host 13 unique 12-step recovery programs. We are open and staffed 7 days a week, 365 days a year. On major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, we organize community dinners at the Club and provide round-the-clock meetings for those in need.
The Alano Cub of Portland is also a visible provider of education, fellowship and spiritual support for individuals and families in recovery. Beyond our daily meetings, we offer a variety of social activities, special events, and community-building opportunities designed to promote and support a new, healthier way of living based on the time tested 12-step recovery model.
